Classification

The classification process is used to assign an official university pay plan job title and federal Fair Labor Standards Act status to a position.

Refer to the "Grant Classification Decision Tree" to facilitate this process.

To classify a new grant funded position, please submit the following along with the requisition found in the EASY system (please refer to Employment information):

 

  1. The appropriate description for the title you are requesting . A list of available grant titles and their pay ranges can be found here.
    GAP descriptions for establishing new grant funded positions can be found at:
     http://www.hr.txstate.edu/Forms/miscforms.html. Please refer to “GAP Grant Descriptions.”
  2. An organizational chart for the department.
  3. A brief justification memo explaining the new position’s job duties and responsibilities.
    NOTE: Your department has 30 days from the new hire date to submit a completed Job Analysis Form for the position to Human Resources.

To request a reclassification audit to change the title of a grant funded position, please attach to the EASY requisition (please refer to Employment information):

  1. An updated Job Analysis Form reflecting the position’s current duties.
  2. An organizational chart for the department.
  3. A brief justification memo explaining the changes to the position’s job duties and responsibilities.
