Carolyn Bettelheim, Administrative Assistant II, was selected as the Texas State Employee of the Month for December 2011.
Carolyn began her career at Texas State in April 1999. Carolyn processes the application materials, grades, and finance reports for off-campus programs. During the time of Banner implementation, she created the documentation needed and scheduled the training ensuring all involved were invited. Her effectiveness and thoroughness with Banner has made for a smooth transition with no detrimental effect on the students or compromise of quality service. Carolyn keeps abreast of new or changing information regarding Extension Studies Program and is happy to disseminate that information to her colleagues. She consistently provides faculty with support and new faculty are given an in-depth orientation of the program.
Many of Carolyn’s colleagues describe her as having an “exceptional work ethic,” and a “dedicated employee.” An example of this was during the time when the air conditioning was out in the building, others were given the option to work remotely from another location on campus that had A/C. Carolyn stayed in the office, despite temperatures that exceeded over 90 degrees, for the entire work day, to ensure that student services remained open to the students. Another co-worker said Carolyn is indefatigable. She has a great mind, excellent problem-solving skills, and treats the office to British chocolate on occasion. Carolyn represents what customer service is at Texas State.
Congratulations, Carolyn, on being recognized as the December 2011 Employee of the Month!
