New Employee Welcome N.E.W.
As a new employee, you will attend both New Employee Welcome (NEW) orientation sessions. Information regarding both sessions are available below. We have also included helpful resources to guide you before your first day, on your first day and what to expect in orientation.
Below, you'll also find other required training for new employees. Please visit the Professional Development website for more information on other workshops and training. Ask your supervisor and/or fellow employees to determine the required training for your position.
Orientation: New Employee Welcome (NEW) I and II
Conducted by the Office of Human Resources, New Employee Welcome (NEW) I and II orientation, are part of our NEW onboarding program for incoming Bobcat staff. NEW is designed to make you feel welcome and provide essential information about our University, benefits, and other opportunities associated with working with us.

Be ready to go on your first day!
At NEW I, new hires will be able to complete their new hire paperwork and learn about insurance, group benefit plans, time and leave administration, retirement,and more!
All new employees are required to access the New Employee Notices website to review information required by law.
NEW II is held the second Friday of every month for all employees hired at Texas State during the previous four weeks. During NEW II, new Bobcats can tour our San Marcos campus and enjoy a glass-bottom boat excursion at our Meadows Center.
A continental breakfast is provided as well as a box lunch. All employees must attend this session within thirty days of employment in order to satisfy state mandates.

Other training for new employees
Faculty have a specific orientation session dedicated to our new faculty members coming onboard. Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) training and Ethics and Compliance are online training that are required for every new employee to Texas State.

New Faculty Orientation: New faculty joining Texas State can enjoy an orientation tailored to them and learn about university policies and procedures, benefits, technology resources, campus information, faculty organizations and more!
