Overview:

The Clery Act is a summary of what the Jeanne Clery Act is and identifies campus security authorities along with the corresponding responsibilities, reporting and the steps for informing our campus. Further, this training provides case studies on what campus security authorities are required to report. This training is required for all employees identified as Campus Security Authorities.

Background information: All Texas State staff and faculty who are identified as a CSA under the Clery Act must comply with the requirement to collect any and all information regarding crimes reported to them. The Clery Act is a federal law that requires the institution to identify individuals and organizations that meet the definition of a CSA. CSAs have an important job to do and this training (presentation) will aid you in understanding your role as a CSA and what information must be collected and how it is reported.

This program relays important information that is necessary to properly perform your CSA responsibilities. It contains information that educates you about the importance of providing as much information about a criminal incident as possible so the crime can be properly categorized. The information provided is for Clery statistical reports that will be kept anonymous; no personally identifying information will be disclosed. A crime should be reported as soon as possible to determine if a timely warning or emergency notification needs to be issued for Clery crimes that pose a serious or continuing threat to the campus community.

If you have employee(s) in your department that you would like to take this training (presentation) please send their User ID to police@txstate.edu.
